Lunch Menu - Autumn/Winter 2024

Our Reception class staff take their classes down to the hall and stay to help them choose their lunch, open their packed lunches and begin eating their food.  Children remain in the dining hall until they finish their lunch, so don’t worry if your child is a slow eater.  Children are encouraged, though not forced, to eat their meals.  We will let you know if your child is not eating much at lunch. Please note that Myatt Garden is allergy aware.

Children wishing to change their meal preference can only change at the beginning of each half term. Please inform the office in writing. They cannot change in the middle of a school week or during the half term.

Free School Meals

School lunches are now provided free to all children from Reception to Year 6. However, if you are eligible for any of the benefits below, or free school meals it is very important that you complete the application for this.

  • income-based: income support or jobseeker’s allowance (not eligible if on contribution based jobseeker’s allowance)
  • income-related: employment support allowance (not eligible if on contribution based employment support allowance)
  • universal credit
  • income support
  • the guaranteed element of state pension credit
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • child tax credit only.

The school receives additional funding of £1,455 per pupil eligible which is used to provide targeted support for those children and additional staffing and resources at our school. If parents do not register we will not receive this vital funding. Please ask at the office if you are unsure.

The Pupil Support Team at Lewisham deal with free school meal applications.  To apply, you will need to create an account and then submit an online application.  Please follow this link: Apply for Free School Meals

Packed Lunches and Healthy Eating

If your child wishes to bring a packed lunch, please note that the children will all sit together during lunch time, therefore, it is important to understand the school recognises that some pupils may require special diet, or have nut and food allergies.  Parents and Carers should ensure packed lunches are as healthy as possible and advise their children not to swap food items.

The following items are not permitted in your child’s packed lunch:

  • NUTS - Myatt Garden is a allergy aware environment;
  • Fizzy drinks;
  • Sweets/chocolates;
  • Glass containers

If you would like to provide your child with a packed lunch, there are lots of healthy options.   See below for some ideas:
