Myatt Garden Primary School

Safeguarding

Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility*

All staff at Myatt Garden have a duty of care to safeguard and promote the welfare of our children. We have rigorous procedures in place for vetting staff and volunteers, including screening parents and carers prior to helping in class or on trips.

As well as training for every member of staff working at Myatt Garden School around identification and dealing with cases of suspected abuse, an important aspect of child protection is ensuring that children feel safe and are empowered to speak out.

Our safeguarding responsibility also means that, as well as having to produce and regularly review our child protection policy and procedures, there may be times when we need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies if there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Safeguarding is an area where parental involvement is vital as parents and carers know their children best. Wherever possible, we will always canvass the views of parents and carers to ensure their contribution is included in the safeguarding process.
