Myatt Garden Primary School

Admissions

Nursery Admissions

We have a Nursery at Myatt Garden and offer 60 places for children from age 3.  We provide the free government entitlement of either 15 or 30 hours per week.

  • Currently in England all children aged 3 and 4 years old are entitled to 15 hours of free childcare in an early years setting.  From September 2017, households with 2 working parents/carers and working lone parents/carers may be eligible to receive an additional 15 hours childcare.
  • Myatt Garden will be offering some full-time places to eligible children. To check eligibility, please click on this link: https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/
  • You will need to provide the entitlement code to us so we can confirm that you are entitled to funding for 30 hours.

For those children entitled to 15 hours, the nursery session will start at 9.15 and end at 12.15. Children entitled to 30 hours will attend from 9.15 to 3.15 and will need to bring a packed lunch.

Places are offered according to Lewisham Admissions criteria. This considers children in care and current school siblings and distance to the school. As we have thirty places available for 15 hours and thirty places available for 30 hours, the distance of the furthest child offered a 30 hour place may vary from the distance of the furthest child offered a 15 hour place.

We have two intakes per academic year, a September intake and a January intake. Your child will have three to five terms in Nursery depending on which month their birthday falls in:

  • September - December = January intake
  • January - August = September intake

We recommend that you put your child’s name on the waiting list when they are age 2. All you need to do is fill out a basic application form which you download here: Nursery Application Form  or get a copy from the school office (no proofs will be required until a place is offered).

Please note that the offer of a place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the Reception class.

Please come and visit us to have a look around the Nursery and ask any further questions.

Extra Hours

After receiving confirmation of a funded place at our nursery, many of our families choose to 'top up' their child's funded hours at the nursery with paid hours. We charge £7 per hour.  To apply for a place and to read the terms and conditions, please complete our Top Up Form

Reception Admissions

Children start in Reception the September after their fourth birthday. This means they’ll turn 5 during their first school year.

If you are a Lewisham resident, you need to apply between September and January for a place the following September. The deadline is always 15th January.

Further information on admissions is available from the Lewisham Council website at: Lewisham Admissions.

If your child is not offered a primary school you applied for, you can view Lewisham's appeal process here: Lewisham Council - Appeals Process.

School Admissions

If you wish to apply for a school place for your child from Year 1 - Year 6 you will have to apply through Lewisham Council. This is called an in-year admission.

To proceed with an in year admission an ‘In-Year Common Application Form’ will have to be completed; this form is available from Lewisham Council or from their website Transferring to a different school. Some proof will need to be submitted with this form; this includes proof of address in the form of a current council tax bill and proof of parental responsibility in the form of a current copy of the child benefit or tax credit letter.
